On the basic principles of Kar Bhala Hoga Bhala, philanthropist Pujya Chhaganbha established Sarva Vidyalaya Kelvani Mandal in the year 1919. With his inspiration, K.B. Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research was established as a first self-financed pharmacy institution in Gujarat in the year 1995.

With the objectives of developing and providing quality education and research in pharmaceutical sciences, KBIPER is catering the needs of fast expanding pharmaceutical industry, research laboratories, and strengthening the health care facilities of the country. With respect to the research objective of the institution, KBIPER has undertaken many government and industry sponsored projects in the areas of bio-availability and bio-equivalence studies, toxicity studies, human research and formulation and development studies. The institution is also committed to provide continuing education to academicians, pharmaceutical scientists and other health care professionals.

The institution is located on the Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya campus, Sector - 23 which is in the heart of Gandhinagar city and about 27 km from Ahmedabad city. The institution is spread over 20,000 sq. m. A very well planned spacious building of the institute occupies a total constructed area of 9000 sq. m. approximately that includes auditorium, animal house, hostels, bank, staff quarters, student store, guest house, playground and medicinal plants garden. The institution has strong infrastructure with 17 well ventilated laboratories; 15 multimedia enabled air-conditioned class rooms; a seminar hall; a well-equipped air-conditioned library with more than fifteen thousand books and journals, computer facility with unlimited internet access. The environment of the institute inspires the students to learn and grow by leaps and bounds.

Through the scholarly pursuits of teaching, research, and service, KBIPER is dedicated to preparing pharmacy professionals committed to lifelong learning, fostering excellence and innovations in research and developing and participating in professional practice and community outreach.

This institute was established in 1995 by a highly reputed Public Trust of Gujarat State, “The Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Manadal”, which is well known for its yeoman services in the state. Within a short span of 9 years the Institute has come up to a level of the postgraduate and doctorate studies in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. In the forthcoming years we wish to venture into the thrust areas of research in Biotechnology, biopharmaceutics, molecular pharmacology and combinatorial chemistry and is also accredited with a “B” grade certificate by NAAC.

Professional and clinical pharmacy have already stepped in India and we too plan to start the teaching and practice of clinical pharmacy in this part of the country by making a humble beginning at this institute. This institute has also taken a lead in the area of continuing education for teachers and professional scientists.
