Institute of Environmental Studies
The Institute of Environmental Studies was established in 2006 under the self financing scheme under the able leadership of Prof. S. R. Gupta of Botany Department. The Institute is now being headed by Prof. Smita Chaudhry, (Director), an eminent ecologist and internationally known academician. M.Sc. Environmental Science has been started as a professional course with a focus on interdisciplinary teaching and research since 2006 and M.Tech. (Energy and Environmental Management) since 2008-09.
The Institute has also started Ph.D. programme in Environmental Science since 2007. Since 2010 all the courses are under budgeted scheme. Currently ten research scholars are working in the field of Plant Ecology, Environmental Biotechnology and Environmental Management. In the Institute, the students are trained to analyze and assess environmental systems and problems and to develop policies and strategies for sustainable environmental management with modern tools and techniques.
