PhD stands for Doctor of Philosophy. Admissions to PhD programs can be obtained after completing masters degrees. As per revised rules by University Grants Commission (UGC), Universities have to conduct an entrance exams, followed by interview for admission into its PhD Courses.

Eligibility for PET examination

Exemption
The candidates who have qualified in national/ state level competitive examination such as UGC-CSIR/NET/SET/GATE /DBT/ICMR/,JRF and also M.Phil degree holder are exempted from appearing in PET examination.
