Located in The Bapatla Engineering College, one of the seven educational institutions sponsored by the Bapatla Education Society, was established in 1981 with a vision to impart quality technical education and is affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. The College is a little away from the din and bustle of Bapatla, a town with a historic and hoary past, about 75 Km. south of Vijayawada on Chennai-Vijayawada rail route. The college offers B.Tech. programmes in 9 faculties of Engineering- Civil, Computer Science, Electronics and Communications, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Mechanical which are twice AICTE-NBA accredited, Chemical Engineering, Information Technology which are accredited once and Bio-Technology. The college also offers Post Graduate programmes in Digital Communications & Signal Processing, Computer Science and CAD/CAM., The BAPATLA ENGINEERING COLLEGE, one of the six educational institutions sponsored by the BAPATLA EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY,/b>, was established in 1981 with affiliation to NAGARJUNA UNIVERSITY., The college is housed on a spacious and well-planned 30-acre site. The cost of the buildings is over Rs.6.0 Crores and laboratory equipment of Rs.2.0 Crores. Work is under way for a spacious and modern Library with an estimated expenditure of Rs.50.0 Lakhs. The college also possesses a good Computer Center., Bapatla Engineering College was established in the year 1981 with a total intake of 180 students in CE, ME & E.C.E branches. The college was initially affiliated to ANDHRA UNIVERSITY and later to Nagarjuna University from 1984 Onwards. An additional section with an intake of 60 was sanctioned for Mechanical Engineering branch in 1987., From the year 1994, The College embarked on programs of expansion in terms of courses and intake, infrastructure and facilities. Presently the college offers “9 B.Tech Degree Courses” with an intake of 900. Additional 10% intake is through lateral admissions into second year. The college also offers 3 M.Tech Courses in Engineering, 5 P.G Courses in sciences and Masters in Computer Applications with a total intake of 294. From the academic year 2009-2010, the Polytechnic course is being offered in the second shift with an intake of 180., With requisite infrastructure facilities and competent human resources, the college is one of the “Largest Institutions in the State of Andhra Pradesh “. The college is widely acclaimed for its meticulous planning, resource scheduling and Institutional management. It is against this back drop that the college has solicited appropriate accreditation for Civil, Computer Science, Electronics and Communications, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation and Mechanical Engineering branches twice by AICTE-NBA and for subsequently started Chemical Engineering, Information Technology and Bio-Technology once., This College is one of the few Colleges out of 570+ Engineering Colleges in Andhra Pradesh, which is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The six B. Tech. Courses which are accredited twice are: Civil, CSE, ECE, EEE, EIE & Mechanical. Apart from the above two more B. Tech courses viz., IT and Chemical Engineering are also accredited recently. Accreditation to all the eight courses is valid up to April 2010, The College has also applied for Autonomous Status and an Inspection Committee constituted by Acharya Nagarjuna University has inspected the college and recommended to AICTE for grant of Autonomous Status to this College., The Institution of Engineers (India) accredited 8 B. Tech. programmes offered by the college based on the recommendations of the 6-member sub committee of senior Professors from IISc, Bangalore constituted by it. Further, the Ministry of Surface Transport recognized Mechanical Engineering Course of the College. In addition to this, the college is also registered with Dept. of Scientific & Industrial Research for the purpose of availing Customs duty exemption. The college is selected as a Network Institute for the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of the Ministry of Human Resources Development and the World Bank.
