Located in G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College, the Pride of Kurnool town, was the brainchild of Sri. G. Pulla Reddy, the renowned philanthropist and a great humanist. His love for education, though he himself is poorly educated by modern standards, and care for his native district manifested themselves in the form of this college. The College was inaugurated by the world famous ophthalmologist Padma Bhushan Dr. P. Siva Reddy on 22nd February, 1985., Since its inception in 1985, the college has made rapid progress and development, not only in terms of increase in staff strength and students intake, but also in updating the infrastructure in the campus to cater to the increasing and changing needs of a modern technical institute, The Department has grown tremendously over the years and is now recognised as one of the major engineering colleges in the country., Beginning with a modest intake of 180 students in three branches (Civil, Mechanical and Electronics & Communications Engineering) in 1985, the College has grown to admit 480 students in 7 Branches of Engineering. With the munificent grants from our Chairman Sri G.Pulla Reddy, this College has become one of the Premier Institutes of the State. The EAMCET ranks of the students joining our College bear ample testimony to the reputation of our College in the State., Over 2000 students from all over the State are now pursuing their studies in Engineering & MCA in our College. The College is celebrating Bi - Decennial year in 2004-05., BTech in Civil The College enjoys permanent affiliation to Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur. It is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. For the Quality Management system successfully implemented by the college, this College was awarded ISO 9001-2000 certificate by M/S American Quality Assessors (India) Private Limited, USA in August 2003. The Kurnool Municipal Corporation is the biggest in the Rayalaseema region. The town has Govt. Medical college, Dental College, two Polytechnics, two engineering colleges, Sri Krishnadevaraya University Post Graduate Center, Govt. Pharmacy College, Degree Colleges for men and women, M.B.A. college, M.C.A. colleges, four colleges of Education (B.Ed), Law college and a number of computer coaching institutes like NIIT, CMC, APTECH, BDPS etc., Students are expected to be regular in attending the classes and should conduct themselves properly. The conduct of the students should be exemplary not only within the college premises but also outside.
