It occupies a sprawling campus of 18 acres dotted with more than 25 buildings., The Bhimavaram Education Society was established in July 1975 with a view to extend more education facilities to the people in and around Bhimavaram by establishing different Educational Institutions. As a response to the aspirations and enthusiasm of the people in general and the Bhimavaram Education Society in particular, Sri Kotikalapudi Govinda Rao came forward and offered munificent donation for the establishment of K.G.R.L. Degree College., The college was inaugurated on 20th August, 1975 by Sri M.R.Appa Rao, the then Vice Chancellor of Andhra University. Sri Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao, the then Education Minister of Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, was the Chief Guest., To start with, it had no home of its own. The college started in the premises of ‘Sri Adavi Bapiraju Municipal Elementary School’ near Veeramma Cheruvu nwith thirty six students of B.A. and B.Com. and five lecturers., The institution had the good fortune of having the services of outstanding personalities like Sri E. Lakshminadha Rao (1975-76), Sri V. Narasimha Rao (1976-91), Dr. M. Lakshmana Rao (1991-2006), Dr. A.V. Satyanarayana (2006-08), Sri M. Sai Manikyala Rao (2008-11), Sri D.V.S. Chandraji (2011-12), Dr. K.V. Krishna Rao (2012-13), Sri M. Subba Raju (2013-14), Smt. M. Rani Ratna Kumari (2014-17), Sri R. Suryanarayana Raju (2017), Dr. S. Sai Durga Prasad (2017-19) and Prof. M. Trinadh as Principals. Due to the devoted and committed work of the management, principal, staff and students the college was developed into a mini university stage in the Andhra University area in a short span., The management under the dynamic leaderships of past presidents late Sri Nachu Venkatramaiah, late Sri Kuriseti Satyanarayana Murthy, Sri Yerra Narayana Swamy, late Sri Kotikalapudi Govinda Rao and the present president Sri Nukala Ramanuja Rai and the founder Secretary & Correspondent Sri Mentey Padmanabham started the following Courses.
