Anna University, Chennai Department of Industrial Engineering The Industrial Engineering programs at Anna University, as a specialization under the faculty of Mechanical Engineering has been given due recognition by forming into a division under the Department of Management studies, in the year 1973. The same division has been upgraded to a full-fledged Department of Industrial Engineering in the year 2002. The Department of Industrial Engineering offers the following programs: B.E. Industrial Engineering (Full time, 8 semesters) B.E. Industrial Engineering (Part time evening program, 7 semesters) M.E. Industrial Engineering (Full time, 4 semesters) M.E. Quality Engineering and Management (Part time evening program, 6 semesters) M.S. by Research, (Full time as well as Part time) Ph.D. (Full time as well as Part time). Currently about 40 doctoral research scholars are working in the department in different areas of Industrial Engineering. The department has a team of dedicated faculty members specialized in all the relevant areas. MISSION Create, acquire, assimilate, apply, and transfer knowledge for the design, analysis, improvement and implementation of complex systems that include humans, materials, equipment and other resources � the essence of industrial engineering. The mission of the Department is the preparation of B.E. (IE) and M.E. (IE) students, conducting strong research programs, service to working engineers and to companies, and leadership in professional societies associated with Industrial Engineering.
