Anna University of Technology, Chennai In 2008, the Department of Media Sciences started offering MSc (Science and Technology Communication), initially funded by the National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. This is the first such job-oriented degree programme in South India.The department also runs a doctoral programme. Unique to Anna University, the PhD candidates undergo coursework in the areas related to their research before getting into research work. Courses Offered : => M.Sc. Electronic Media 5 Years Integrated => M.Sc. Electronic Media 2 Years Facilities : The Department of Media Sciences has excellent multimedia laboratory facilities, and audio and video studios equipped with the latest technology to offer hands-on training to students. The multimedia laboratory is equipped with the latest versions of 2D and 3D software such as Adobe Photoshop, ImageReady, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Director, Discreet Combustion and 3D Studio Max. The students may specialize in audio programme production, wherein they are provided with the latest microphones and digital audio recorders for real-time training. The department has a good digital audio laboratory facility, with software such as Sound Forge and Nuendo, which help the students to learn audio recording, mixing and layering. Gyan Vani, Chennai, an educational radio station, is stationed in the Department of Media Sciences. It provides students with the much-needed real-time experience as they script and produce a variety of programmes. Also, the Educational Multimedia Research Centre and the community radio Anna FM are on our campus, which facilitate media training for our students.
