Candidates are allowed to attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years: the year they pass Class 12 and the two following years. Since the exam is conducted twice a year (usually January and April sessions), a student can theoretically appear for a maximum of 6 sessions over these three years. The best NTA score out of the two sessions in a single year is considered for the final merit ranking.
