UPCET (Uttar Pradesh Combined Entrance Test), formerly UPSEE, is required only for admission to MBA programs in colleges affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), such as government and government-aided institutions (e.g., IET Lucknow, KNIT Sultanpur’s management departments). However, it is not required for premier institutes like IIM Lucknow, IMT Ghaziabad, FORE Noida, or private universities (e.g., Amity, Sharda, GLA). These top institutions rely on CAT, XAT, MAT, or CMAT scores. UPCET is mostly relevant for state quota seats and lower-fee government college admissions.
