A good CAT percentile depends on the target institute. For top IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta), a 99+ percentile is generally considered competitive for General category candidates. For other older IIMs and top B-schools, 95–98 percentile may be competitive. For newer IIMs, a percentile in the range of 85–95 may suffice. However, final calls depend not only on percentile but also on academics, work experience, diversity, and interview performance.
