The All India Rank (AIR) in NEET UG represents a candidate’s position among all candidates who appeared for the exam across India. It is calculated based on the candidate's total score in descending order. This rank is used primarily for admissions under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and for central institutions such as AIIMS, JIPMER, and deemed universities through centralized counseling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The State Rank, on the other hand, is issued by individual state counseling authorities and is used to allocate seats under the 85% State Quota in government medical colleges within that state. State rank considers factors such as domicile eligibility, reservation policies, and the list of candidates participating in that particular state's counseling process.
