The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level examination conducted for testing the comprehensive understanding of undergraduate subjects in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, and arts. The exam is jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB) – GATE under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. GATE scores are primarily used for admission to postgraduate programs such as M.Tech, M.E., Ph.D., and direct doctoral programs in prestigious institutes like IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded institutions.
