The GATE syllabus varies depending on the subject paper chosen by the candidate. Generally, the syllabus consists of three main sections: General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics (for engineering papers), and core subject topics related to the selected discipline. The General Aptitude section carries 15 marks and tests verbal ability and numerical ability. Engineering Mathematics typically carries around 13–15 marks for engineering papers.
