Dibru College is one of the few colleges in Assam having three full-fledged faculties viz. Arts, Science and Commerce. The College stands on a plot of land measuring 2.4 acres, in the eastern part of Dibrugarh town. This premier institution was established in 1963 with the objective of imparting higher education to the local students of Dibrugarh as well as the students coming from surrounding vicinity. Today the college also caters to the educational upliftment of a large section of students coming from the tea-tribes, other backward segments, and other neighbouring states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur., Though Arts and Commerce faculties were established at the inception of the college, the Science section of the college came into existence in 1965 and the college was brought under Deficit Grants-in –Aid system in 1972. Today the college has spacious buildings for holding classes and for administrative purposes with separate computer building and Science Laboratories., At present, the college has 59 well-qualified and experienced teachers along with administrative, technical and supporting staff numbering 29. The college has a well-equipped library and provides excellent library facilities along with a career counseling and guidance cell. The college is providing internet facilities and a certificate course in computer. The career oriented course in Air conditioning and Refrigeration, Auto repairing and servicing. Medical waste disposable management is going to be started by the college from this session. It also imparts N.C.C training to students. The college also plans to start the N.S.S activities from this session.
