Assam institute of technology was established in 1994 with a noble mission to break through the mental & financial obstruction of those unfortunate students who have been deprived from getting admission in Govt. Taking such a broad out look and for the benefit of those student AIT has been providing excellent teaching as well as skilful training facilities of Engineering, Computer, Information technology, Management and Paramedical courses which are recognized by Govt. of India, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development & University Grants Commission., AIT introduced the courses of Automobile under THE INSTITUTION OF MOTOR INDUSTRY (IMI), Chennai and Civil Engineering Degree from I.C.E. with a view to fulfill the hopes and expectation of those unfortunate deprived students of North East Region., As time went on AIT has obtained the status of authorized study centre from INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED STUDIES IN EDUCATION, UNIVERSITY, RAJASTHAN.
