The Regional College of Nursing was established on 3rd October, 1977 at Guwahati, Assam under the scheme of North Eastern Council (NEC) and direct administrative control of Government of Assam. It was through the tremendous and combined effort of two great personnel Late Dr. J. Mahanta, then principal cum superintendent of Guwahati Medical College & Hospital and Mrs. A. Kerketta, the first principal of Regional College of Nursing that this institution has started functioning. Today it has became the pride of North Eastern states in the field of Nursing education. The glorious existence of Regional College of Nursing has contributed to the upliftment of nursing education in North East states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura.Regional College of Nursing Guwahati currently conducts undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of Nursing - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing), a four-year course and Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc), which is of two years’ duration.
