Considering the much awaited and long-felt need of an institution imparting career-oriented and quality education with an eye on the character building of the younger generation In the Barbhag area of Nalbari district, Barbhag College was established in the year 1964. The birth of this institution was the result of the toil and scarifies of a few spirited and progressive individual who worked day and night for years to turn this long cherished dream into reality. Since its beginning, the institution has been striving hard to make the rural folk of Barbhag truly educated. The economically backward people of Barbhag area have immensely benefited from this centre of Higher education. It has successful to a great extent in fulfilling the academic aspiration of the people. The institution has give special stress on the education of rural women, with the result that more than 50% of the total enrolments at present are girl students. So far the students of the college have shown good academic results. The college has taken and further intends to take innovative steps towards improving quality of education in keeping with the fast changing needs of Higher education., To build the monument of a society free from discrimination, prosperous with moral uprightness, cultured and self-reliant through spreading higher education among the socially and economically backward people of the greater Barbhag region and thereby creating a cosmopolitan attitude among them is the mission of Barbhag College.
