Located in Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) is a Deemed University. It is one of the National Institutes of Technology of India. It was formerly known as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT). Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India is one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges in India. The institute has been named after the great scholar, educationist and the first education Minister of Govt. of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The Govt. of India and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh jointly sponsored the Institute in 1960 to attract bright young students from across the country. The Institute is successfully meeting the objective of producing skilled manpower of the highest quality who is able to cope up with challenges of ever evolving industrial needs of the country, Bihar is unfortunately backward so far as Engineering education is concerned. There are only 7 Engineering colleges(3 Govt. & 4 private) in Bihar which has a population of 8.7% of the total population of India., Prominent citizens of the state decided to establish a society for the educational upliftment of the state with an emphasis on minority education. Realising that technical education was the only vehicle for upliftment of muslim communities. Some eminent, highly qualified and sensetive persons of the community like the Mr. Justice S. Sarwar Ali, Mr. Justice S. Ali Ahmad, Mr. Fahimuddin Ahmad(I.A.S, former Addl. chief secretary of Bihar) formed a Society named "Millat Education Society" registered in 1986 under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The society began its pursuits for the attainment of its cherished goal, decided to sponsor an Engineering College at Patna Which was named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a great intellectual, an ideologue, an eminent politician and first Education Minister in free India., The college was established in 1988 in donated buildings at Anisabad, Patna-2 which is now its city office. The college has now full fledged campus in a sprawling 19 acres of land at Neora which is 9 kms from the Danapur railway station., GOALS AND OBJECTIVES, * To offer educational programmes which are consistent with national perspectives of development and to create a dynamic management system which on a continuing basis, can review the educational processes and manage changes to improve its effectiveness., * To generate and impart up-to-date knowledge to contribute to the national effort to improve economy as well quality of life and in general to strive for excellence., * To create an environment in the institution which is conductive to the development of the overall personalities of the students by inculating in them national perspectives, cultures outlook, healthy habits, co-oerative spirit and ethical values., * To create new job opportunities for youth who are unemployed or under employed by introducing short term courses in computer applications., * To afford opportunities to diploma holders to become highly trained engineers..
