Post Graduate Department of History The department of History was established in 1947.There is provision of honours teaching at undergraduate level and Facility for Post Graduate teaching started since 1979.The strength of students at undergraduate level is 64 and that of PG is 32.The students of this department have done exceedingly well in the University examinations and have secured high ranks. The Department regularly conducts seminars on topics in History, Archeology and other issues of current interest. The Post-graduate students prepare research papers under the guidance of the faculty of the department and present in the seminar meetings. The Teachers and students are engaged in research work on the archeological findings and the development of tribal culture in the undivided Koraput district. Some of the teaching members of the Department have undertaken research on the Evolution of freedom movement in the tribal dominated areas of Koraput district.
