Department of English The English Department has all along maintained veritably opalescent existence. Healthy student-teacher relationship and engagement in extracurricular activities all the year round are a few other striking features of the department. The esteemed teachers of the department are possessed with a missionary zeal to foster the process of learning among the students and the public alike. Apart from concentrating on their studies, the students of the Department engage themselves in extracurricular activities like regularly organizing departmental seminars, holding welcome and farewell meetings and other literary activities. The Department has added a few feathers to its cap by holding as many as five national seminars. Recently, in the month of March 2010, the Department organized a national seminar on Ethics and values in Contemporary American literature. Many learned and veteran luminaries in the field of American literature took active part in the deliberation. The basic purpose of organizing mega seminars like this, in this remote area is to orientate the native teachers about the esoteric areas of literature and criticism. All the seminars that we have organized have been celebrations of knowledge and also aptly provided latest information apropos newest trends in literary and critical studies. We have, in the recent years, invited erudite scholars like Prof. B.K.Tripathy, Prof.Deba Patnaik, Prof.P.K.Mohanty, and Prof.E.raja Rao etc.who have provided updated knowledge in the field of English literature and offered intellectual guidance which, obviously, became an opportunity for the pupils to encounter with greatness.
