Computer Science (Honours) was started in the year 2004 under self financing scheme. +3 Degree Science students with Mathematics and Chemistry can opt for Computer Science as their Honours subject.
The Department is presently functioning in the renovated, gorgeous, historical building- The Diwan Bungalow .There are three class rooms with necessary furniture and modern gadgets, two air conditioned laboratories with ten computer terminals a piece. All the computers are in LAN configuration managed by an IBM server and provision of 24 hrs internet facility is available.
The Departmental seminar provides a healthy platform for presentation of papers by students, faculty members and invited Recourse Persons. Late Amit Kumar Satapathy has donated many valuable books which are being lent to the students. In addition to this the central library has a stock of advanced books on Computer Science, published recently for the use of students.
The students passed out from this department are pursuing their MCA after getting good ranks in OJEE .Some of them are well placed in various software companies. The syllabi adopted for each semester is keeping in line with the modern standards. Here it would not be out of context to mention that OJEE counseling and admission process for the year 2010-11 was conducted in this Department as this College was being chosen as one of the Nodal Centers for the purpose. The Department nurtures the idea- Development and Improvement have no end.
