B.Sc. Physics Objectives of the Course: The purpose of the course is to furnish an introductory account of the basic principles of physics & a detailed study of Atomic, Nuclear, Quantum mechanics, Relativity, Solid state physics, Spectroscopy, Electronic & Communication, Digital electronics, computer programming in C language apart from mechanics, Properties of matter, Acoustics, Thermo dynamics, Statistical physics Optics, Electricity & Magnetism, Environmental physics. It also provides on intelligent use of the existing devices & methods. It also deals with the applications of the above in Science & Technology, & for society. Eligibility of the course: Candidates seeking admission to first year of the Bachelor of Science - Physics shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry conducted by the Government of Tamilnadu or an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate subject to the conditions as may be prescribed thereto are permitted to appear and qualify for B.Sc., (Physics) degree examination of Periyar University after a course of study of three academic years. Duration of the Course: The course for the degree of Bachelor of Science - Physics shall consist of three academic years divided into six semesters.
