B.Sc Statistics - Basaveshwar Science College

Department Of Statistics Basaveshwar Science College Bagalkot has a unique distinction being the only independent science college in the area covered by the twin districts of Bagalkot and Bijapur. In 1944 to 1967, Arts and Science faculties were together and Science wing was bifurcated in 1967 with separate new Principal Prof. B. C. Akki. The Departement of Statistics was attached to its related subject mathematics.Prof. S. B.Tippa (1960) and Prof.T.B. Chilakawad (1968) have taught statistics till 1970.Prof. B.C. Kamat was appointed as a lecturer in statistics and he has played a vital role in the developing and strengthening the department. Prof. H.S.Pujar was appointed as a lecturer (1978) in the transferred post of Prof.B.C.Kamat. And statistics department was bifurcated from mathematics department in 1980 and Prof H.S. Pujar was designated as Head of the department. Prof L.S.Patil was appointed as a lecturer in 1982 due to increase in the workload. Prof H.S. Pujar was transferred to B.V.V.Sangha’s Arts, Commerce & Science Degree College Mudhol as Principal in December 2007. Prof. (Smt) S.S.Biradar was transferred from Mudhol in place of Prof.H.S.Pujar. Prof L.S. Patil was designated as Head of the department
