Department of Zoology
The Department of Zoology has been functioning in this College since its inception in1947. Presently the Department offers Graduate Degree course in Honours and Pass. The Department has a Seminar consisting of the Honours students and members of teaching staff as members. The Department seminar provides a strong and healthy platform for updating of knowledge among students in various fields of Biological Science including that of Zoology. All the students are involved in seminar and research activities and are guided by the eminent teachers of the department. The Seminar Library comprises of around five hundred books containing Text books, Reference books and Journals, for the use of students and staffs both alike, for updating the knowledge in recent advancements in the field of Biological Science and Environmental Science.
In February 2007 the Department along with the Department of Botany, sponsored by the UGC, organized a National Seminar on Medicinal Plants in the College. The Department also regularly invites eminent scientists and academicians from time to time to inspire and motivate students for higher studies in Biological Sciences. The Department also conducts study tours to provide sufficient exposure to our students about the diversified fauna of this region.
