M.Phil Tamil Literature The department was started in the year 1988-89. Since the inception of the college, the department has been instrumental in promo9ting the zeal for learning Tamil. In the year 2002 the department (M.Phil., & Ph.D.,) and continues to encourage scholars to explore the culture, language and literature in Tamil. Full time Eligibility A candidate who has qualified with Master Degree in Tamil with 55% or equivalent thereto. SC/ST Candidates with 50%. Duration: One year Part time Candidate possessing any of the qualification above Teachers / Research Asst/ Technical Asst. appointed by the University with two years teaching experience. Duration : Two years The department has organized National level Conferences and workshops to enlighten students and scholars in Classical Tamil. Funded with an amount of Rs. 75,000/- by the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, the department conducted a National level Seminor in the year 2006-07. In the Year 2009-10 Pationised with Rs. 5,00,000/- by Central Institute of Classical Tamil, Chennai. The department organized a 10 day workshop for Research scholars. A Pattimandram headed by Dr.K.Ganasambandam spreaded the fervour of Tamil language & literature.
