Post Graduate Diploma In Computer Applications(PGDCA) - Khalsa College of Education, Amritsar

1.1 Any graduate under 10+2+3 system with atleast 45% marks in aggregate. 2.1 The duration of the course shall be one year from Aug. to May every academic year. 2.2 An examination shall be held at the end of academic year at such place/s and on such dates as may be decided by the university. 2.3 There shall be six papers and one project report of 100 marks. 2.4 The date/s by which the admission forms and fees for examination must reach the Registrar shall be decided by the university.

Course Information & Syllabus

1.1 Any graduate under 10+2+3 system with atleast 45% marks in aggregate. 2.1 The duration of the course shall be one year from Aug. to May every academic year. 2.2 An examination shall be held at the end of academic year at such place/s and on such dates as may be decided by the university. 2.3 There shall be six papers and one project report of 100 marks. 2.4 The date/s by which the admission forms and fees for examination must reach the Registrar shall be decided by the university. 2.5 Three days of grace may be allowed after the last date without late fee for the receipt of admission forms and fees. 2.6 The medium of instruction and examination shall be English. 2.7 The examination shall be held according to syllabi and courses of reading recommended by the Board of Studies in Computer Science & Engg. and approved by the appropriate bodies. 2.8 The result shall be declared by the Registrar as soon as possible after the termination of examination. 2.9 Each successful candidate shall receive diplomas issued by the University stating marks and division. The minimum pass marks shall be 35% separately for theory and practical in each paper. The successful candidates shall be placed in the following divisions : (a) Those who obtain 75% or more of the total marks. First Division with distinction. (b) Those who obtain 60% or more but less than 75% First Division. (c) Those who obtained 50% or more but less than 60% marks Second Division. (d) Those who obtained less than 50% of the total marks. Third Division. 2.10 Two additional consecutive chances may be given to a candidate to clear this examination, i.e. one in September and second in April (Alongwith regular candidates). 2.11 The examination shall be open to a student who is eligible as laid down in ordinance 1.1 and has his name sent up by the Principal concerned with the following certificates :- a) of having been enrolled in the college for the academic year proceeding the examination. b) of good moral character. c) of having attend atleast 75% of the lectures delivered. 2.12 The Principal of the college concerned shall have the power to condone in lectures in each paper upto 10% of the total number of Lectures delivered. 2.13 A candidate who have attended the prescribed number of lectures, does not appear in the examination or having appeared has failed or his been placed under reappear in one or more paper /s, may be allowed to appear as an ex-student on the recommendation of the Principal concerned. In such cases, the candidates shall be examined as per the course outlines in force at that time. 2.14 There shall be an examiner in each paper to be appointed by the University on the recommendation of the Board of Studies in Computer Science. The question paper shall be set by the examiner and answer books evaluated by him as per University suggests. 2.15 The Diploma shall be awarded on the successful completion/ evaluation of theory and practical papers. Note:- The Ordinances are subject to the addition/amendments approved by the competent authority. Instructions for Examiners 1. There shall be six papers and one project report. Each paper will be of 3 hours duration. 2. Each theory paper will be of 50 Marks. In each paper a separate practical of 50 marks will be conducted before/after the theory papers. Project report will be of 100 marks. 3. Each paper will be divided into five units. Examiners will set two questions from each unit with internal choice. 4. The students will be asked to attempt five questions selecting one question from each unit. Each question will carry 10 marks.
