Bachelor of Textile Design (BTD) - The Textile Design curriculum is planned to equip students with vision, knowledge, skills and methodology to function successfully in the industry, composite textile mills, craft sector or as an independent entrepreneur. Courses are structured to achieve creative problem solving abilities and emphasis is placed on quality of design in relation to products through the application of colour, design theory and the rich traditional history of textiles.It is important for students to work as a team, as they are required to interact with people from the industry, designers, technicians, crafts people and the community. Assignments are planned with the aim of developing skills, analytical thinking, observation and communication. Students develop perception and the required skills to create designs suitable for specific fields including interiors and apparel. Research is conducted on contemporary textiles to develop awareness of the local and global markets.
