Master in Hydrographic Survey (MHS) is a two years postgraduate academic degree course of Hydrographic survey study in India. The study is designed to provide theoretical and practical experiences of advanced techniques and technologies to highlight issues relating to the Hydrographic Survey and its Management.

The study emphasis on the practical understanding of the principles that underlie the analysis and interpretation of survey data, particularly on those issues that affect its quality.Therefore practical elements of hydrographic applications are sometimes referred to as the Integrated Marine Field Trip, with candidates taking on an increasing level of responsibility as the years progress.

The master’s course of study is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of Hydrographic Applications. The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with Hydrographic Survey in a comprehensive manner.

The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as Mapping Science, Quality Control, GNSS, Reference System, Electronic Application, Charting, International Boundaries, GIS Principles & Technology, Data Analysis, Principles & Practicals of Surveying, Hydrographic Application, Positioning, Management, Ocean & Coastal Zone Management.

Eligibility

The candidate has to complete Bachelor Degree like Bachelor of Science in Hydrographic Survey (B.Sc.Hydrographic Survey) or any other Bachelor Degree with relevant subjects or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

This course requires study requires 2 to years of the time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, study option to earn this degree, the course of study is based on practical aspects hydrographic survey.

After the successful completion of the Master’s degree one can recognize as Hydrographic Surveyor and able to work as Professor, Lecturer, Senior Surveyor, Fugro Surveyor, Hydrographic Surveyor, Gardline Marine Scientist, etc.
