Devi Ahilya University (DAU), Indore Department of Physics School of Physics established in 1971 is a premier, front line department of physics education in the state. It is dynamic, vibrant and growth oriented having many unique features. All courses offered by the department run on semester system in which evaluation of a student’s performance is made on the basis of regular tests and a comprehensive viva-voce at the end of each semester. All answer sheets are open to students for scrutiny. In order to encourage the students to pursue higher studies many students are sent for summer training in premier research institutes. Project work is a necessary component of the course work. Admission to various courses is made through a screening test followed by an interview. The department takes pride in the fact that student body spectrum covers the whole of the country. The department has a highly qualified and dedicated regular faculty and is well supported by distinguished associate faculty from Centre for Advanced Technology, Inter-University Consortium for DAE facilities, Indore, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad and Institute of Plasma Research, Gandhinagar.
