In India, the purpose of English is manifold. The language once introduced to this country on Macaulay’s famous Educational Minute of 1835, has now gone beyond its mere functional necessity. Creative Writing in English is an emerging area of interest particularly in the later half of the last century and even before that when a host of Indian writers in English have occupied the centre stage of English writings in the global form. With a view to encouraging those who wish to embark on writing as a profession, a Diploma Programme in Creative Writing in English has been introduced among the courses currently available at KKHSOU.
