This department was originally created to be a service department to Engineering courses in Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College. But ever since the upgradation of the status to Deemed University, the department has expanded to its true potential to run even P.G course in polymer chemistry. Collaborative research programmes can be undertaken, which will help in registering patents of commercial value. This would enable the department to be self-sustaining. The department has fully equipped instruments and consumables and also advance equipments for research lab. The facilities available in our laboratories both in teaching and research field includes UV visible spectrometer, flame photometer, nephelometer PH meter , , soxhlet apparatus, TLC, Column chromatography, melting point apparatus, digital potentiometers, digital conductivity meters ,magnetic stirrer with heater, thermostat etc.Activities :
Field trips / Industrial Visits: The Department , along with other science departments, organizes field trips relating to course work Seminars: Faculty and Students are given opportunities to conduct seminars and also to attend workshops, symposia, etc in related subjects organized in the University and elsewhere. Students Projects : Faculty of our department are also guiding students, for their project works related to chemistry ,civil and EVS in coordination with respective departments.Future Plans :
