The department of physics offers two semester physics course for I Year - B.Tech.(2010-2014) B.Tech students. The department conducts theory & practicals for I Year B.Tech students in their I semester & Material Science in the II semester. The syllabus that is framed for the I year is such that it forms a strong foundation for them to understand the engineering subjects. The department aims at developing the learning skills of the student not only in the classroom but also in the laboratory. Emphasis is laid on instilling a scientific temperament in students.

Research :
=> Emphasis is also laid on research activities in the department.
=> To ensure this a “Basic Research Laboratory “ is set up in the Science and Humanities block, to facilitate the faculty to do their research work.
=> Some of the Instruments available in the Lab are
=> Ultrasonic Interferometer for Liquids (Multi Frequency)
=> Ultrasonic Interferometer for Solids.
=> UV Spectrophotometer.
=> Thermostat with control.
=> Magnetic Stirrer with heater.
=> Abbe’s Refractometer etc.
=> All the faculty members of the department are well motivated to research and thus many staff have already started their journey towards research in various fields of Physics.
Infrastructure :
Physics Lab :
The practicals that are important for Engineering and Technology are included in the curriculum. The practicals like wavelength determination for lasers & conventional light source, transistor characteristics, some experiments on properties of matter & thermodynamics.
Library :
The Department has an independent Library of its own and has rich collection of books on all specialization fields in the subject. Learners are allowed access to use the Library facilities on all working days.
