PhD Program Disciplines
The disciplines for which CMR University Bangalore is offering the PhD program include Education, Management, Economics, Commerce, Law, Computer Applications, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science & Engineering (with specializations in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Networking and Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Cyber Security, Data Science, and Internet of Things), Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Kannada, Hindi, English, Psychology, and Architecture.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates eligible for admission to the PhD program at CMR University Bangalore must fulfill the following criteria:
- Completion of a 1-year/2-semester master’s degree program after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program, or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program after a 3-year bachelor’s degree program, or qualifications equivalent to a master’s degree recognized by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale, where grading system is followed.
- A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
- Candidates who have completed a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program must have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale, with a relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories as per the decision of the committee from time to time.
- Candidates who have completed the M.Phil program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade are also eligible for admission.
Application Process
- The applicants are requested to fill-up the Online Application form available on CMR University website (www.cmr.edu.in)
- Application fee of Rs 1500/- shall be paid online.
Admission Procedure
An Entrance Test comprising Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will be conducted for all eligible candidates. The minimum qualifying marks in the entrance test are 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test will include 50% of research methodology and 50% specific to the subject of specialization. The Entrance Test will be held at CMR University.
The following category of candidates are exempted from the Entrance Test:
- Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR NET URF), SET/SLET, GATE, or any other examination considered equivalent by CMR University.
Candidates who have qualified the entrance test and are exempted from it shall proceed to appear for the personal interview/viva voce conducted by the Research Admission Committee.
