NEET PG is the single largest postgraduate medical entrance test in India. It is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses in medical colleges across the country. Many states and institutions also use the NEET PG merit list to fill their postgraduate medical seats. In simpler words, NEET PG is a one-stop shop for medical students who want to pursue postgraduate studies in India. It is a single exam that gives students a chance to compete for seats in medical colleges all over the country.
Medical Colleges Admission through NEET PG
All state quota seats in medical institutions and seats in institutions established by the state government, universities established by an Act of state/union territory legislature, municipal bodies, trusts, societies, companies, or minority institutions shall be filled using the NEET PG merit list. No state government, private medical college, or university shall conduct their own entrance exam.
In simpler words, all postgraduate medical seats in India will be filled using the NEET PG merit list. This includes seats in government and private medical colleges, universities, and other institutions. No state government or institution is allowed to conduct their own entrance exam.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will only provide data on candidates and their NEET PG scores to the state government/counseling authority through the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India, without applying any eligibility criteria or reservation criteria. It is up to the designated agency/authority of the concerned states/union territories (UTs) to determine/generate the state quota rank, state category rank, benefits for in-service candidates, rural posting (if applicable), etc., in accordance with applicable regulations, eligibility criteria, guidelines, and applicable reservation policies.
