The National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) Mohali is pleased to announce the commencement of the PhD in Biotechnology Program for the year 2024. Interested candidates are invited to apply now.
NABI Mohali is initiating the PhD Admission for the Biotechnology program, scheduled to commence in January 2024. Motivated students are encouraged to submit their applications for admission to the PhD degree program in Biotechnology. NABI is recognized as a center by the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, for the conduct of PhD (Biotechnology) programs. The program will be administered at NABI, with the degree conferred by RCB, an institute of national importance established through an act of parliament. Duration of PhD Course: The program spans 5 years, with a maximum allowable duration of 7 years.
Area of PhD Research Work: The PhD research encompasses Agricultural Biotechnology, Food Biotechnology, Nutrition Biotechnology, Plant Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Nanobiosciences, Post-harvest Technology, Functional Foods, Genomics, and Computational Biology.
Number of Seats: There are 17 seats available, with reservations in accordance with Government of India guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum Qualification: MSc/MTech in any area of life sciences/MPharma/MVSc/MBBS or an equivalent degree.
- Qualifying Marks: A minimum of 55% total marks or an equivalent score in the qualifying degree (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PD as per GOI norms).
- Additional Requirement: Candidates must qualify in a national-level test for pursuing the Doctor of Philosophy program. This includes tests such as a doctoral fellowship or admission eligibility test conducted nationally by entities like the University Grants Commission (UGC), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), or any other Government-recognized agency.
- Pending Results: Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying degree examination (final year/final semester) may also apply. Admission is subject to meeting the criteria at the time of joining.

- Students admitted to the program are expected to avail fellowships offered by different granting agencies in accordance with their respective rules.
