- Display of list of candidates eligible for presentation & interaction by 4:00 PM in the respective Departments: December 11, 2023
- Presentation/interaction by all eligible candidates (Strictly through Offline Mode). No requests for online mode will be entertained in this case: December 12, 2023 – December 13, 2023
- Display of list of selected candidates: December 18, 2023
- Deposition of fee and registration (through online mode only): December 19, 2023 – January 7, 2024

Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for Dr. BR Ambedkar NIT Jalandhar PhD Admission 2024:
- Engineering Departments: A Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant area of research, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology, with a first-class or a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale) in the qualifying exam.
- Science Departments: A Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Science with a first class or a minimum of 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale) in the qualifying exam.
- Humanities (English Literature & Linguistics): A Master’s Degree in the appropriate discipline with 55% marks (or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale).
- Management: A Master’s degree in Management or related areas of Management (Commerce, Public Administration, Engineering, Law, Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology, Economics, Business Economics, Sociology, etc.) with 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale) in the qualifying examination in Engineering/Science/Management or; 55% marks (or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale) in Humanities and Social Sciences.

Application Process:
- Candidates are required to apply online only through the Institute's website www.nitj.ac.in or submit separate application forms if applying for more than one program.
Application Fee:
- An application fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates) is required to be paid online.
Selection Process:
- Candidates with GATE/NET (JRF/LS)/UGC (JRF/LS)/GPAT/Inspire Fellow/Sponsorship by some outside agency as a full-time candidate need not clear the Institute written examination.
- For all other candidates, Institute written examinations are mandatory for shortlisting.
- Admission to the PhD program is based on the performance of candidates during "presentation and interaction" and the availability of a Supervisor in the proposed research area.
Reservation:
- Reservation is as per the Government of India guidelines prevailing at the time of admission, at the Institute level for Full-Time programs (i.e., 40.5% for General, 27% for OBC, 15% for SC, and 7.5% for ST, and 10% for EWS category).
- Reservation is observed at the Institute level and not at the individual Department level.
