About SMCON
Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing (SMCON) is one of the constituent colleges of Sikkim Manipal University. SMCON offers a four-year B.Sc Nursing Degree Program and a two-year M.Sc Nursing program. Both programs are recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and Sikkim Nursing Council. The programs at SMCON aim to enhance critical thinking skills, competencies, and standards required for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery. Degrees are awarded by Sikkim Manipal University. Students from all over the country are eligible to take admission in these programs.

Eligibility Criteria
For B.Sc. Nursing:
- The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought. The maximum age limit for admission shall be 35 years.
- Candidates with Science background who have passed the qualifying 12th Standard examination (10+2) must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together, and passed in English individually.
- Candidates shall be medically fit.
For M.Sc. Nursing:
- The minimum educational requirement shall be the passing of B.Sc Nursing / B.Sc Hons. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc Nursing with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.
- The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
- B.Sc Nursing graduates should have a minimum of one year of experience in a hospital, College, School of Nursing, or Community Health Program after registration with the State Nursing Council.
- Post Basic B.Sc Nursing graduates should have a minimum of one year of work experience prior or after in a hospital, College, School of Nursing, or Community Health Program after registration with the State Nursing Council.
- The candidate registered as a "Registered Nurse" (not as a Midwife) will not be eligible for specialization in "Obstetric & Gynaecological Nursing".
- Candidates shall be medically fit. The selected candidates for admission in the M.Sc Nursing course shall have to submit a medical fitness certificate from a physician during the admission process.
- Candidates who have obtained degree qualification through distance mode will need to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indian Nursing Council during admission.
- For foreign students seeking admission to the M.Sc Nursing course, the equivaand to apply online, pleaselency of the degree of the candidate needs to be recognized/validated by the Indian Nursing Council. They must also have No Objection Certificates from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
Application Process:
Candidates are requested to apply online at www.smcon.smu.edu.in or www.smu.edu.in. The online application feature is available 24/7 and is a two-step process:
- First, register online, then log in using the same email and password to file an online application by paying Rs. 1000/- (online payment). Upon successful payment, candidates will be provided with an application number.
- Next, upload the required documents. Candidates need to keep scanned documents, photo, and signature ready to upload (.jpg format only with a maximum file size of 200KB, 200 px x 200 px).

Selection Procedure:
For B.Sc Nursing:
Admissions will be based on the marks obtained in the 10+2 qualifying examination. The physical presence of the candidate during admission is mandatory. Eligible candidates can take direct admission without any entrance examination.
For M.Sc. Nursing:
Admission will be based on the inter-se merit of the candidates on the basis of the percentage of aggregate marks secured in B. Sc Nursing/ P.B.B.Sc Nursing and the eligibility criteria. Admission will be confirmed after successful verification of the original documents.
