About

Dairy Engineering deals with the processing of milk and its products. The study involves processing, storage, packaging, distribution and transportation of dairy products by applying the science of bacteriology, nutrition and biochemistry. Dairy Engineers learn about quality control and how to work with dairy processing equipment. They also analyze production aspects, work in quality control departments of milk plants, ice cream units etc. The task of a dairy engineer is to process milk and milk products so that there are no germs and toxins in the final product and it has the nutrient values intact. Pasteurization is one of the important aspects of dairy technology.

A professional degree in B.Tech. in dairy technology or dairy science and technology offers training in milk processing and quality control, and knowledge of dairy processing equipment. Course duration is four years.
Students who have completed +2 with physics, chemistry and mathematics as optional subjects are eligible to choose Dairy Engineering program. Candidates who complete their B.Tech. degree in dairy technology can go for Master’s degree in dairying. The course offers intensive training in all aspects of production, processing and management.
