The Regional Pharmacy Institute (RPI) was established at Agartala during 1979 with the financial assistance of NEC (North Eastern Council) to cater Diploma course in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) throughout the North Eastern States with an intake of 60 (Sixty) capacity. Women’s College was established in June 1965 at the heart of the capital. It was one of the Government Colleges in the North-East India catering to the interest of the women folk of the state as well as of the adjoining states. It is affiliated to Tripura University (A Central University) and UGC.

Tripura Medical College & Dr B.R Ambedkar Memorial Teaching hospital performed the first Bi-Lateral total Hip Replacement with MOM (Metal on Metal) Operation thus adding another first to its repertoire of ‘firsts” in the Medical History of Tripura. This is the first time that a Bi-lateral Total Hip Replacement was performed not only in Tripura but in the entire east of India and this extremely complicated operation was performed by a surgeon of national repute Dr Rakesh Rajput.

Bhavan's Tripura College of Teacher Education has been established at Bimangarh (Narsingarh), Agartala, West Tripura. This B.Ed. College is recognized by N C T E vide NCTE letter No.ERC/7-56.11(8)/2005/1487(7) dated May 12, 2005 and F.ERC/NCTE/APE00339/B.Ed(Revised order/2015/31691 dated 15/05/2015 as per new NCTE regulations 2014. The Present name of Govt Music College is Sachin Debbarman Govt. Music College.This college was founded Pulin Debbarma in the year 1964. Pulin Debbarma was the utmost worshipper of music. He was born in the year 1914 , 10th March, at Agartala in Krishnanagar. From childhood, Pulin Thakur was very much interested in music. Pulin Debbarma was the first man who established “Birbikram Music School” in his own house for tor the purpose of Spreading music throughout the common People .

The College was established in 1965 with the three traditional branches of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. It was initially affiliated to Calcutta University and had the same curriculum structure and examination system as par with Bengal Engineering College, the other institute affiliated to the University.
