Govt. Jamuna Prasad Verma P.G. Arts and Commerce College, Bilaspur (C.G.) was established in 1944 with an aim to impart education to the socially and economically backward students of Bilaspur city as well as nearby villages. This college was taken over by Govt. of Madhya Pradesh on 26.01.1972. Presently it is an affiliated unit of GURU GHASIDAS University, Bilaspur Chhattisgarh. NAAC peer team visited this institution on 11th and 12 oct-2004 and awarded B+ grade to this college.

As an oldest institution in Masturi region the Government Pataleshwar College, Masturi, Bilaspur is primarily known as Government College Masturi that was established in 1988. The UGC accorded it recognition under section 2 f & 12 B on 18th February, 1998 and 22nd June 1998 respectively.
