Unity College was established in the year 2007 with a modest 114 students. Since then the institution has grown with a total student of 520, 24 full time teaching faculty and 9 non teaching staff besides a part time Hindi teacher. Established in the year 2007 by Amity Welfare Society, Unity College has been encouraging and fostering quality education where students will become not only productive but pro active responsible citizens of tomorrow.

The NIT Council is created under the NIT Act 2007 and it's present composition stands as follows: The Minister in charge of the Ministry or Department of the Central Government having administrative control of the technical education,ex officio-Chairman. Salt Christian College of Teacher Education is one of the premier institutes of learning not only in Nagaland but in the entire North Eastern Region of India with its avowed objective of setting new standards in Education.
