It was in 1946 that Prince Shivaji Education Society, Kolhapur started a high school named ‘Shri Mouni Vidya Mandir’ and with that established the educational institution, Shri Mouni Vidapeeth. Initially, the high school was located in the old building of a rural hospital in Gargoti. In the year 1948, Sarvapalli Dr. Radhakrishnan Education Commission proposed the concept of Rural University.

Textile And Engineering Institute Hatkanangale Kolhapur started in the year 1983 is a private college that is managed by Dattajirao Kadam Technical Education Society. This institute is approved by the AICTE and it has got “A” grade by the Government of Maharashtra. Textile and Engineering Institute Hatkanangale Kolhapur has got a very good reputation in India right from the year it was founded.

The College was established by Late. Dadasaheb Patil Kouloukar, Late. Govindrao Kalikate and their followers. They were great social workers in region, educationists and visionary leaders of their times.
