CMS College, Kottayam was established in 1817 by the Church Missionary Society of England, is the oldest of the institutions for higher education in South India. The college became a first grade college with degree courses in eight disciplines and postgraduate courses in six. The college was affiliated to Madras University in 1857. Now, the college is affiliated to University of Kerala and accredited by NAAC with B++ level.
