The Nazira College is the higher educational institutional in the Nazira Sub-division. It is located in the heart of Nazira Town of Sivasagar District, Assam. The college was established by a decision of a representative public meeting held on 18/8/1981 and convened at the initiative of a few educationist of Nazira town and surrounding and started functioning from 16th December 1981.

Demow is a small town in the district of Sivasagar surrounded by tea gardens. The area is rural and inhabited mostly by tribals and economically weaker sections. Demow College was established by some educationists and social workers of the area to bring the opportunity of higher education within the reach of the students of a vast area in and around Demow. The co-educational College was established in June 1970.
