The College of Post Graduate Studies started functioning in the year 1963 with Masters’ Programmes in 12 departments of Agriculture and Basic Sciences whereas Ph.D. programme commnced in 1965. This is an important college of the University having students for Masters’ and Ph.D. degree programmes.

The initiation of Home Science Programme at Pantnagar was recommended by Mrs. Alice M. Fisher USAID and Dr. Elda Robb University of Tennessee, USA in 1961. There after, U. P. Govt. gave green signal in December 1963. Dr. Janice Smith UIUC, USA recommended two year Diploma and four year undergraduate degree programme in Home Science in February 1966. The College of Home Science was thus, established on 15 July, 1971 with a undergraduate programme.

Institute of Management & Technology is being setup by the Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant Shiksha Samiti in the month of August, 2005. IMT is located in the vicinity of Industries like Surya Roshni, Prakash Pipes, India Glycols Ltd. etc. and is 50km away from Udham Singh Nagar an upcoming Industrial area with the companies like Britania Industries, Dabur& 'Eveready' etc. The institute provides perfect ambience for higher learning.

The institute is established on dated July 01, 2004. The Institute is on its own permanent premises since inception.The institute is affiliated to Kumaun University, Nainital. It is also approved by AICTE and Affiliated to Uttrakhand Technical University(UTU), approved by Govt. of Uttarakhand and B.Ed. course is recognized by NCTE(vide letter no F.NRC/NCTE/F-3/UR-198/10212 dated November 08, 2004). The institute is currently running MBA, B.Ed, BBA, and BCA and PGDCA courses.
