Located in Established in 1978, IDI the most coveted institute in the field of diamonds, gems & jewellery in India is a state-of-art school of learning, everything within the campus, under one roof. Recognising the Indian Diamond Industry as a major source of employment in a priority sector like export production with scope for substantial value-addition for the country, the establishment of the Indian Diamond Institute was conceptualised and later put into effect. The IDI is a Society registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and also under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. The IDI is ISO 9001:2008 certified for Design Development and provision of Training, Consultancy & Certification Services related to Diamonds, Coloured Stones & Jewellery. w.e.f. March 01, 2010 vide Certificate No. 44254 issued by M/s. ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. Recognising the "Indian Diamond Industry" as a major source of employment in a priority sector like export production with scope for substantial value-addition for the country, the establishment of the Indian Diamond Institute was conceptualised and later put into effect. Objective : The main object of the Indian Diamond Institute is to create professionalism within the diamond gem and jewellery trade and industry and to that end organise the development of a higher level of skill in artisans. The Institute is expected to perpetuate and improve upon the skill involved in diamond processing. Development of new tools, equipment and technology in diamond processing and related subjects dynamically matching with the developments elsewhere in the world is another objective of the institute., The Institute runs a large number of programmes of training. The programmes cover almost all the subjects of diamond processing, assortment and grading, addition to gemmology, jewellery designing & manufacturing, computer application, management programmes., At the conclusion of each programme, an examination is conducted. The object of the examination is to assess the level of skill and proficiency attained by a student. Students are eligible to appear only when they maintain the attendance record, Projects, Seminars, term papers & other relevant reports etc. prescribed for each programme., After the examination results are declared after 2 months of examination in respect of certificate programmes, while for the candidates under the P.G. Diploma/Diploma programmes, Diploma is awarded during the Diploma award function., those who fail in the examination will have to reappear to qualify the programme by paying a fee Rs.250 per module that too if it is paid only within a month of concluding date of that particular programme., Allowed To Continue with Programme (ATCP) Those undergoing long duration (P.G. Diploma/Diploma) programmes and having not cleared one or more modules will be allowed to continue with programme, but at the end of the completion of all the modules, they have to appear in final examination. ATCP fee would be Rs.500 per paper/module., This prestigious event is held at the Auditorium of the Institute admist the eminent personalities from Govt. Bodies/Trade & Industry. Invitations are sent to all those who pass out successfully in their respective training programmes.
