It is Also described as a State within State and Mini Parliament of Sikhs. Inspite of its role in spreading Sikhism, SGPC is committed to spread the value based education in academically backward areas of Punjab, Haryana and other states. Its first step in this direction was the opening of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Mantunga, Mumbai in 1937.
