Located in This institute was started in the year 1984 by the Department of Technical Education, Vocational & Industrial Training, Government of Himachal Pradesh with the aim to provide vocational training to large number of rural youth and women folk of Dharmashala Sub – Division of Kangra District. Initially the Institution was started with four trades, in a rented building Near Sham Nagar., In 1993, on the construction of Institution’s own building/workshop the trades were shifted to new institution campus., All the courses /trades of the Institution are affiliated to National Council for Vocational Training, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The examination known as All India Final Trade Test are conducted by the body NCVT, Govt. of India, New Delhi through Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board, Dharamshala. The training programme in the State is looked after/governed by the SCVT with Directorate at Sunder Nagar, Distt. Mandi, Himachal Pradesh., The Central Govt. has introduced schemes namely, Upgrading ITIs into Center of Excellence COE., Upgrading ITIs through Public Private Partnership mode PPP Mode., Modular Employable Skills MESthrough skill development initiative scheme., This institute is covered under PPP mode for up gradation. MES scheme is also being implemented by this institute in letter & spirit., Re-Notification:- 08 women ITIs such as ITI W Dharamshala,Palampur, Jawali, Hamirpur,Kullu,Deegal,Kasauli and Chopal have been re-notified as Co-educational ITIs by the Govt. of HP on 12/01/2010 vide notification No. EDN TEA 4 1/2009-Dated Shimla-2, the 12th January, 2010., VISION, Realization of Glimpses of a young country India particularly in the rural Himachal Pradesh which lives in its villages ITI Dharamshala will excel globally and distinguish itself as a recognized pre-eminent leader to serve through its socioeconomic upliftment by exposure of the aspirants to vocational training thereby grooming them as technically competent, multiskilled personality and intellectually-vital Graduates through practically focused quality learning experiences, and thus assuring productive Careers for them., MISSION, Upliftment of Rural Women /Girl Students through vocational education., To promote culture of self-employment., To impart non-formal education to unemployed youth., To inculcate moral, ethical, spiritual values in education at all levels., Quality training programs in need based modern vocational technology., To maintain state-of-the-art infrastructure in laboratories., Respond to local social needs.
