Located in University Institute of Technology UIT previously known as UIIT is located on the campus of Himachal Pradesh University at Summer Hill, Shimla. This institute started functioning on 11th September 2000 through the orders of the Executive Council of Himachal Pradesh University after approval from All India Council for Technical Education AICTE., Initially, it was started with a batch of 60 students for B. Tech. Information Technology whereas B. Tech. Computer Science Engineering has eventually been introduced in year 2013 with an intake of 60 seats. Now UIT is well known institute with five branches of Engineering viz. Information Technology, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. UIT is known for its quality in India and abroad., UIT is a leading government institute of Northern India. It offers an excellent learning environment amid the towering deodar trees with a unique blend of distinguished faculty, brilliant students and strong IT industry collaborations. Its new building “SILVER WOODS ESTATE” is situated amid rich flora and fauna, has been aesthetically planned and designed with excellent infrastructural facilities to offer a congenial environment for the students.
